I am a HUGE Eminem fan and therefore I am extremely biased so I'm not expecting anyone to take this review seriously. But whatever.THIS BOOK IS AMAZING. Em's brand of humour is all over it, the pictures are amazing and rare, and his stories from his past tours are hilarious. The absolute best part is the scanned lyric sheets.

And somehow that turned into a song we all know and love. As an Em fan, it's the greatest thing ever, to actually see where songs came from. Every Eminem fan MUST own a copy of Eminem: The Way I Am.PS - Mine came with a bonus DVD which was equally as awesome as the book. I'm not big into bio's because I don't feel many celebrities have anything significant to offer, mostly because they lead such different lives than normal people (over the course of time).

It becomes hard to relate to their story. Marshall Mather's story is equally difficult to relate to, on both sides of the spectrum, from dirt poor working at Little Ceasars to practical billionaire. But it's the honest telling of the drastic difference from welfare to uber fame that makes it so entertaining. And I'm glad I'll never be there or live that life. This is the book's largest appeal, and to a lesser degree, big fans of Eminem will get a kick of his history, album to album, the movie, public stuff, beef and all that I don't keep up with, and where he's at now. I'm a fan of his music but I'm not really into what people eat for breakfast, which is why I don't bother reading bios.

I had a feeling this one would be honest though, and it is. My family is wealthy but they didn't come from a lot so I had a job as soon as I was old enough, so I respect and relate on a certain degree. While it's definitely not to the point I would stop him in public for an autograph, I'll definitely always give his tracks a run or two hundred. An honest and compelling bio. I'm not quite sure what I expected out of this book.

There was still a 'Slim Shady' when the book was published, even though his existence was starting to fall apart.I did, however, admire the candidness and genuine tone. This guy has been through a lot, and he says everything in a straightforward, easy-to-comprehend manner.

It's kind of interesting to see where his songs and musical talent stems from. Plus, there were several exclusive photographs on each page. I think I actually spent more time looking at the pictures than reading the text.At one point, I was a huge Eminem fan.but ever since Slim Shady went away, I haven't been as enthusiastic. I was hoping to gain more knowledge about his life by reading this, but it just didn't happen.I guess my expectations for The Way I Am were too high.

It was so crazy of what the artist himself said about his past that takes a lot of courage. This is a different book because of his race which is a white American boy, many people judge him based off his skin color thinking he couldn't rap for shit.

That is the beauty of Eminem's attitude in this memoir. He knows he messed up at some points in his life and he is remorseful, but at other times he knows he made the decision he thought was right at the time and it made him who he is today so he does not regret it.There are a few significant times in Em's life that made him who he was. One being how Eminem got his nickname and the image most people to know him as, 'Slim Shady.' In the midst of one too many extacy pills he poured peroxide all over his hair bleaching it. He went up to his producer and good friend 'Dr. Dre,' and he found Eminem's alter ego.

This was what Slim Shady was supposed to look like. Another very important series of events in the memoir was his father being absent. He was raised by his grandmother and uncle because his father was gone and mother was not around too much.

I think this was what made Eminem who he is today more than anything else. I know this from experience and from the viewing of his acting out, how he acted out, and when he snapped.

This memoir was a very well written one. It was very relevant to today's society and so many people could relate to this story as I did. In my opinion Eminem did such a wonderful job of telling his life to anyone who cares to read it. He showed tremendous courage to put himself on the line like that.

To be honest, this truly is the best book I have ever read. I’m surprised by this. It really doesn’t dig that deep. It does not tell the whole story.

Most controversies are just brushed over and I don’t feel like I know Marshall Mathers any more than I did before. Listening to Cleanin’ Out My Closet or Mockingbird or Yellow Brick Road will do a much better job at that. Nevertheless this does paint a picture of Eminem’s drive. It narrates why and how he is motivated, who pushed him further, how he feels about the bigger milestones (8 Mile, Infinite, worki I’m surprised by this. It really doesn’t dig that deep. Which is new for me within the genre of autobiographic material. Like there are glimpses of his childhood and he talks about raising his girls but we never get more details on Debbie and her parenting than we did through his lyrics. At the same time the visuals are stunning, really help reading between the lines and they were definitely put at the centre of attention in the book. It’s more like a photo album rather than a memoir or such.Which, as a voyeur (which I am already for reading this), left me a tiny bit unsatisfied in my intent to KNOW, but left me pleased for the things I could SEE in this. Does this even make sense?:D it’s cool for a fan is what I’m saying, but will not give a good introduction to the artist if you’re unfamiliar with his material and back story. I absolutely ADORED this book, as a long time Eminem fan it was awesome finally getting my hands on this.
