Haha sorry but I have to ask.I recently bought a dsl 100 and love the tone but I found a dsl 50 for the same price and sounds great also. Which do you guys prefer?I have always bought 50 watt heads I still have my jcm 2204 with a 1936/greenbacks. I can't use my dsl 100 with my 1936 don't want to blow my speakers would the dsl 50 be a better buy?
(Also I don't have a 4x12 cab borrowing one from a friend at the moment)I play metal/punk. As a plus the 50 watt head looks brand new compared to the 100 watt head I have now which is a bit beat up. I got the DSL50 and a 2x12 greenback cab and it works fine. Unless youre planning on buying a new cab too, I'd go with the 50 so you can use your current cab. Theres only a 3db difference between 50 and 100 watts (quoting what everybody says on this site). Actually why dont you skip the 50 since you have a 100 and just buy a used 4x12 cab. A cab is probably cheaper than the 50 head. Also my 2 cents - I dont see any reason to buy a 2nd DSL unless thats your 'sound' and you need a backup.Buy the 4x12 and save the rest of your money for something else (pedals, another guitar, etc.). The 50 sounded great, especially with the KT77s.but the DSL100 is just wicked good.
Way more bottom end, head room.well, more everything.Older Marshalls I prefer the 50watters.the get the distortion character quicker.but the DSL100 develops allot of great tone in its preamp so overall volume isn't necessary for good compression.making it more suitable for live performance.but when you turn it up.like any Marshall gets just better sounding.I loved my 4100.but a boosted DSL100's red channel DECIMATES any 4100's B channel boosted.no comparison period.
Two hand carry in for jams. I was going to swap one of the chassis with a Reverb 12. Marshall lead 12 combo manual meat. I was going to use a top cab as a bottom cab under a Lead 12 combo (feet line up with cups BTW) and load the combo with the 16 ohm from the bottom cab.
